Alex's Writing Sample

You know I'm busy when I haven't written a blog post for over a month! But, I wanted to document this paper Alex wrote. It was extra credit for history and he did not want to do it but because he's getting a D+, I convinced him he should.
I set him up at the MAC and we have TV on it and you can pause and rewind and I also set him up a document to write on. He did a lot of pausing and rewinding. He turned it in "as is" so I'm posting it as is. I hope someday we can look back and see how far he's come. Regardless, I loved reading it and getting his take on the State of the Union address:

State of the Union
After A decade all the soldiers are coming home. I think that is grate because
they get to see there kids and wife/husbands. Obama says that we bought more cars
then we had in five years. I think that this is a good because we do need the cars to get
places. I is also a bad thing because it causes so much pollution that it makes us breath
hard.
There are million of Americans that have jobs that work so hard and don't get rewarded for what they have done. People are trying to find jobs but not full embodiment. He also says that for more then a decade wages and incomes have barely budged. I think that if you get awarded for what you have been doing at the jobs. I think people should get full time jobs. I do want to know how the president can mange this
sours of thing.
He says in 2011 congress passed the law that if to parties couldʼt agree on one
thing then about a treatable dollars of budget cuts will automatically will affect our
country this year. I think his right even though I have know idea what he is say but I do
know this that most of that money goes to congress because they have to make a new
law. They also have to approve it and that costs a lot of money to approve.
Obama said that we as a government make promises that we cannot keep but
me must keep the promise that we have already have. I think he is right about that
because if he dinʼt keep the promises from last State of the Union talk then the people will be very angry. He also says we should build letters of opportunities to middle class
for all the people that are willing to climb it. I think this one was interesting because
there a lot of opportunities but we don't know witch ones we could take. If we know what
we are hoping for then we know what we want to do in the future.
He says that when people are put out of job that they can not give them another
chance. I think that's a great idea to give people another chance because we do need
chance, because we also are humans and we mess up. As me I would like another
chance in anything but its the part of my life I do get chances but if I mess them up then
that chance is gone.
In the talk he says we have brought 3,000 of our man and women from wars. I
think that's great, because I think they mist there families and friends a lot. Obama
said,”As your learner I will try to do anything that is possible to keep our country safe.” I
think that would be awesome because well our country will feel safe and confident. He
says that he will make everything equal so people wont feel bad about there self. I think
that is the most informant thing of this talk.
He is talking about gun violent and how they deserve a vote. I think he is right
because there are a lot of families children that got shot by bad people. If they have a
vote that we as people should not have guns then that's a bad thing because if we don't
have guns and the bad people do then we would die fast. I think they would have to
hide guns from children so they would not get the idea to kill people. I think they should
check there background and if they do drugs. If you do drugs then you should not be
able to get a gun and I think this is what our country needs today.
I think it is easy to get a gun because our dads have them and some children might
have seen them hide the gun so they go there and play around with it and when they do
a loft of bad things happen to children because they donʼt know the safety about guns
