Last Supper/Passover

We wanted to try something new this year, in conjunction with celebrating Easter. We decided to have a special dinner to talk about the Last Supper and Passover. Which might be a little confusing since they were hundreds of year apart but the idea was to have a dinner that was similar to what Jesus might have eaten at the Last Supper and since bread and wine were the only things mentioned in the bible, I went with Passover food because chances are,  the Last Supper might have had some of the same items? At the least, it was a culinary experience for the cook and the consumers alike.
The menu consisted of Matzo Meal Ball Soup, (took me a couple of stores to find Matzo Meal)  Lemon-Garlic Grilled Chicken, Bitter Herbs (toss salad with a vinegar/lemon juice dressing) Gefilte Fish (sort of disgusting), Olives, Pita Bread (unleavened bread) and Grape Juice (wine).
Soup:

Over all? It went really well. James gave us a lesson about what happened at the Last Supper and then we had a brief review of what the Passover was about.

Today, Alex wrote about it in his journal. He asked me what it was that Jesus said to Peter about who will betray him?  Jesus explained that he would sup with the one that will betray him.  That confused Alex a bit and asks, "What is sup mom? Like when I say, 'Whatsup'?" No. Not exactly and we had a quick vocabulary lesson on the difference between "What's up" and to sup.
He then wrote he is grateful for being a member of the Church so he can learn these "cool" stories.

Over all, it was a great experience and something that we might repeat again.
(Except for the fish -  yuck!)

2 of my blog friends said something...:

That is very cool. I might have to use this idea in the future.
