Oh my.....
I was so proud of myself for getting my neighbor Christmas gifts early. I bought them after Christmas last year. Cute little boxes of hot chocolate. The kids and I delivered the bulk of them Sunday night, caroling as we went. Alex was pretty excited about it and would race from house to house ringing the doorbell before we all got to the porch.
Austin was not so enthusiastic and told me later he thought they were pretty lame gifts but I defended my cute little cocoa's. We deliver to about 25 families so the cost can really add up.
I still have three to deliver and they're sitting on my desk. The nutrition information was facing me and imagine my surprise when I realized that I delivered ONE serving size of cocoa to all the families in my neighborhood! Good grief. I am so embarrassed.

LOL! I love my neighbors, but this is exactly why I quit doing "neighbor gifts." It is the craziest, weirdest completely obligatory Utah tradition and truth be told, most people really don't care for it. It is so expensive and SOOO time consuming (which is a commodity I just haven't had much to sprare of since I adopted my boys) and most of the "gifts" either just get tossed or sent to work with my husband because I'm diabetic. My last neighborhood had finally all quit doing them. A few years ago one person finally came out during a RS lesson and expressed her dislike for the cheesy neighborhood exchange. There was an audible sigh of releif that went through the room. It was obvious that so many others had been feeling the same way, but just didn't dare say anything. After that, it just slowly started trickling off. I had already really started scaling back, but once we adopted the boys and our life was so completely out of control, those neighbor gifts were the first things to go out of the schedule...and I've never brought them back. I didn't even do them here in my new neighborhood this year.
