Wow.
One year tomorrow.
Feels like yesterday I was in Ukraine yet it feels like Alex has always been our son. How can that be?
Last night in Alex's blessing journal he wrote:
I never had such nice parents but in America I have better parents.
He also wrote in his journal last night:
I wish Mom and I would stop having such long talks.
(He originally wrote this in the blessing part of his journal and I had to explain that a wish is not a blessing. That he could write, "He is blessed to have a mom love him so much that she gives him long talks." but he wasn't going for that!)
He was upstairs this morning singing "I'll stand by you." over and over while he combs his hair and just came down and asked if he could add this song to his MP3 player. He's sure he knows how to do this because "Dad show me." I hope he does because I have no idea....
Today is full of taxes, haircuts, dress pick ups, dance classes and one house showing. Nothing like last year where I was so lonely and homesick, preparing to traveling home on those long, long plane rides. Bringing my boy home.
Sounds like we're looking for more songs for the MP3 player behind me.
Tomorrow I'll post our homecoming.
Whew.
Writing everyday for the last six weeks has been challenging.
Thanks to the few of you who have re-traced our adoption adventure with me. I am so glad I blogged it. So many things I forgot and so many things were enlightening reading about them now and knowing what I know now.
Funny. Part of me can't believe that we did that.
Travel 1/2 way around the world for one little boy to complete our family.
Despite the challenges, repeated lectures and hair-pulling-out communication frustration we've been through since arriving home, I'm so glad he IS home. That he's ours and that I have the opportunity to raise him. Why he was born in Ukraine is beyond me? I know he was ours before this life. Just glad we found him, we made it and he's finally home and we are whole.
Happy Thursday!

2 of my blog friends said something...:
"Why he was born in Ukraine is beyond me? I know he was ours before this life. Just glad we found him, we made it and he's finally home and we are whole."
Thats the best line I have ever read, and its so true. Though we haven't "made it" yet, as we have yet to travel, its just amazing how much this was meant to be. She fit in as if she had always been here. I'm so glad we were led to our daughter, who was always meant to be.
Ive enjoyed your blogging the past 6 weeks and hope you keep it up :) Alex is so lucky to have such a great mom, long talks and all...
Wow, Has it been a year already? Where does the time go? congratulations on this milestone!
