April 21st /Day 35 Update...

Well, Alex and I took the night train to Kiev. It was an interesting experience and when I get home I'll post pictures and tell you all about it. For now I'm in an Internet cafe checking emails and confirming my flight home which will be Friday (IF I GET HIS VISA ON THURSDAY) United Airlines flight 6449 arriving at 7:45 pm. This is bitter sweet because my biggest push to get home (besides my apparent homesickness) was to see Kambree's dance concert Friday night at SEVEN PM!! So not only will I miss it, I'll arrive in the middle of it! |
Speaking of Kambree, apparently James is getting a taste of single parenting and the emotional and financial exhausting of having a teenager daughter, not working, taking college courses, active social life and performing with dance company. There is yet another dance coming up and Kam hit James up for money and a dress. Needless to say, he's freaking out. Anyone have a dress Kambree can borrow?
The plan I worked out by talking with the embassy is to go there this morning bringing Alex's visa photo. (Remember that day he had his picture taken and I didn't know why? Well, it's for his visa!) Oxana will pick up his passport back in Dniprprotrosk, fax the info to the embassy before noon so the can get started today and then she'll send the passport on a train this afternoon so we can have it in hand to go to his medical appointment in the morning and then meet with the consulate that afternoon. With any luck we'll have the visa in hand by the end of business day tomorrow and hop on our 5:30am flight on Friday.
So lots to tell about the train but it will have to wait. Thanks all for your positive thoughts and encouraging words.

4 of my blog friends said something...:

Wendy, we're very curious about the train. We're thinking this is a good way to save a little $$. Would you do it again?

We really want to see you come in on Friday night. If we're all packed, we'll come and see you and Alex. Let us know what happens! Best wishes for a great flight home.
